Antique 7 Drawer Console Table - 19th Century
This elegant elm console table hails from Shanxi Province, northern China, and beautifully showcases the refinement of Qing dynasty craftsmanship. Crafted from northern Chinese elm (yumu 榆木), its deep, characterful patina has developed naturally over decades, offering a warm, textured finish that speaks to its storied past. Originally it had just two drawers (top left and right), the others were fixed panels, now customised into drawers.
Traditionally placed in entryways with a chair on either side for the host and guest, these tables were used to welcome visitors - setting the tone for hospitality and conversation. Today, its slim profile and historic charm make it an ideal choice for a hallway, behind a sofa, or in any space that calls for a refined statement piece with heritage.
