
Red Lacquer Chinese Sideboard From Dongbei - Ca 1920
This is an original lacquered Sideboard From Dongbei (Manchuria) and was made in the 1920's.
Dong means East - Bei means North - the region of their origin.
These were used in a similar way to altar tables.
Usually a family ancestor portrait would be hung above.
Joss sticks were lit daily & placed on the top, for the well being of the household.
