This colourful and characterful Indian tiger toy figurine is from either Surat or Channapatna in Karnataka. Channapatna is renowned to this day for its production of painted Indian toys.
Tigers have been a symbol of India for over 5000 years remain so to this day. Production of these figurines began in the mid 19th century with an example from 1965 on display in the V&A museum.
