Pair of Chinese Side Tables From Shanxi - Early 19th Century
This pair of Chinese side tables date to the early 19th century and originally came from Shanxi province. They are constructed from paulownia & yumu elm (榆木) wood.
Originally they would have been coated in dark lacquer, however, over time, this has mostly worn away on the table top to reveal a beautiful grain. This style of table has been produced in China since the Ming dynasty. They are incredibly versatile being used for both stools and side tables.
All finishing is done in our workshops in Wiltshire. This price is for a pair of tables.
