Painted Indian Matka Table Lamp
A rounded matka table lamp base—once used to carry water from village wells—has been reimagined as a characterful table lamp, hand-painted in traditional Rajasthani motifs. The gently worn surface, fine rivets and tactile patina testify to earlier use, while the new electrics make it entirely practical for modern living.
Each lamp is individually hand-decorated and finished with antique-brass fittings. Choose from three colourways inspired by Rajasthan’s painted architecture and folk arts: Deep Red Jālī trellis, Natural with Jālī band and mehndi-style sprigs, or Indigo Bādal (cloud) scrolls. No two are ever the same—expect small variations that make yours unique.
- Origin: Punjab, India (vintage riveted iron water pot, “matka”)
- Decoration: Hand-painted Rajasthani patterns; sealed surface; antique-brass fittings
- 3 Colours: Deep Red Jālī / Natural Jālī Band / Indigo Bādal (cloud scroll)
- Electrics: Wired and PAT tested in our UK workshop
- Bulb: B22 bayonet, max 60W (not included; available with £5 surcharge)
- Flex & Plug: 2m twisted brown fabric flex; UK 3-pin plug
- Lampshade: Not included (shown for styling); available separately
- Notes: Each lamp will show honest wear and small surface variations consistent with its prior life
An upcycled matka that brings colour, craft and warm, atmospheric light to any room.
