An excellent example of the artisanal skill of Indian craftspeople of times past. This jali fretwork panel came from an Indian balcony. It is all hand carved. These panels from Jaisalmer town in the desert Rajasthan gave privacy while allowing a cooling breeze to enter the building. They were used in stone havelis, the stylish homes of the more wealthy and this piece dates to the 19th century.

Mounted on a graceful contemporary black iron base.
