Ming Kang Table From Shanxi - 17th Century

Ming Kang Table From Shanxi - 17th Century

This kang table is from Shanxi province and dates from the 17th century. Kang tables were used on either side of the kang, a raised stone platform in wealthy Chinese homes used as a bed. Traditionally the kang was heated in winter. This table is constructed from elm wood and is in its beautifully original condition. This piece is adorned with beautiful deep carvings and is remarkably solid and functional given its age.

These make great tables for the end of a bed or for a small T.V or stereo system. With two beautifully carved useful drawers in the front to stow away remotes & cables.
