Vintage Lassi Cup - Nickel Plated Brass - Early 20th Century
This old Indian lassi cup is from North India and made from nickel plated brass. Each one has its own hand etched designs. It dates to the early 20th century, circa 1920.
Lassi is a delicious Indian & Pakistani drink made from yogurt. It can be drunk both sweet (meethi lassi) and salty (namkeen lassi) and is most often flavoured with mango or herbs and spices like fennel. Occasionally lassi is laced with bhang (hashish) - especially at the Spring Holi festival time.
This very pretty cup has a classical Mughal design.
