Large Indian Brass Chapati Box - 19thC
This is an unusually large chapati box. Indian chapati boxes were used in the old days as lunch boxes or for packaging up small snacks which the colonials called tiffin. Over 100 years old this is a nice early example before the production of chapati boxes became more standardised.
Chapatti boxes come in all sizes, but are generally round in shape, normally engraved with a pattern on the top, these are very decorative.
These beautifully characterful boxes provide a stylish alternative to single use plastic for use as lunch boxes or for food presentation at a dinner party.
As our Indian boxes are vintage dating between 50 & 150 years old, they usually have some small marks and dents from original use which adds to their character.
