
Korean Morijang Burr Elm Side Cabinet - 19thC
Korean morijang cabinets are the smallest of the three main staples of Korean antique furniture and fit perfectly into a modern home as a bedside cabinet.
These morijang cabinets first came into use in the late 18th century and were used as headside chests near the mattress in the women's quarter for storing lingerie and small accessories.
This Korean morijang dates from the 19th century and as with all Korean antique furniture is very lightweight with white brass decoration. The central panels are burr zelkova (red elm), the frame is constructed from pear wood and the top is pine.
