This old Japanese woodblock print is by Ando Hiroshige (1797-1858) and from the series '53 Stations of The Tokaido'. This print is no. 29, Mitsuke, Tenryu River Ferry View (東海道五十三次 見附 天竜川図). It was published by Hoei-do and dates to the mid 19th century. This series was appointed by the feudal Japanese government of the Edo period, Bakufu to join the official procession from Edo to Kyoto. During his journey to see the Emperor he made sketches and produced this series which became very commercially successful at the time.
