
Japanese Kuruma-Dansu Wheeled Chest - Meiji Period
This beautifully patinated and very striking Kuruma-Dansu on wheels is from Yonezawa and was used for storage of valuables.
Made in traditional style with two sliding doors at the top & and at the bottom. As it is such a large piece it is fitted with wheels.
The body is made from Cryptyomeria and the apron is Zelkova, the raised framework is Catalpa. All original iron corners and lock-plates. Meiji Period - Late 19thC
