These stone turban hangers (called a khunti in Hindi) have been carved in the shape of a parrot.

Originating in Dungarpur, theywould have been used daily for turbans or a clothes peg. They are often seen in palaces & houses of the wealthier classes, normally plastered into the wall. Further south in Dungarpur, other animals like horses and peacock designs are found.
