Elm Chest Of Drawers From Gansu - 19th Century

Elm Chest Of Drawers From Gansu - 19th Century

This chest of drawers doubles as a sideboard, is from Gansu and dates from the late 19th century. Made from elm wood, it was originally black lacquered. Over time, the lacquer has since worn away leaving this beautifully rustic finish.

This cabinet was originally a grain store and the panels at the front would have been purely decorative. The paneling has since been converted into drawers for storage. This would make a fantastic centerpiece in a living or dining room.
