This one is beautifully patinated with chip carved roundels on all four sides and carving on the top. It has the original iron fittings and has been sympathetically restored in our Indigo restoration workshop - 19thC From Rajasthan
Used in the old days by Indian merchants and traders in the bazars for storing their cash and ledgers.
These boxes make fantastic gifts, so useful to keep everything from T.V remotes to knitting in
The carving is identical to European chip carving of the 13th century. Many armies and traders travelled the silk route in both directions in ancient times, taking with them skills and new ideas.
