This burgundy lacquer console table is from a Shanxi farmhouse and dates from the 19th century. It has five handy drawers and the lacquer on the table top has long since worn through revealing a rich elm wood grain.
They were always long & narrow in form - a configuration seldom found in antique European furniture.
Woods used are Elm, Red Elm, Walnut & more rarely Cypress & Pear. Our pieces are mostly 19th century & early 20th century.
