This piece is an exceptional example of an elm opera bench.
It is a very elegant shape with nicely carved detailing.
From the side you can see the sweeping curve of the back.
Chinese traditional opera first occurred in 319AD, these performances were were very popular and perfect for large family outings. Families could sit together to watch their favourite performers.
Late 19thC - From Shanxi Province.
This piece would be perfect for a hallway or living room. However, not suitable for use outside in our U.K climate.
