Chinese Kang Table From Tianjin - 19th Century
This Chinese Kang Table From Tianjin is over 120 years old and is constructed from burgundy lacquer catalpa wood. The original recess style brass handles are typical of the Tianjin style. These make great tables for the end of a bed and are ideal for use beneath a T.V or sound system. Chinese Kang tables can also be used behind a sofa or as a coffee table.
Kang cabinets were used beside the Kang which was a raised stone platform used as a bed or lounging area in wealthy homes. Traditionally, this was heated from underneath in the winter.
