Chinese Catalpa Kang Table From Tianjin - 19thC
This Catalpa wood Kang Table From Tianjin is over 120 years old and has remnants of the original burgundy lacquer. The original brass handles are typical of the Tianjin style. These make great tables for the end of a bed and are ideal for use beneath a T.V or sound system. Chinese Kang cabinets can also be used behind a sofa or as a coffee table.
Kang cabinets were used beside the Kang which was a raised stone platform used as a bed or lounging area in wealthy homes. Traditionally, this was heated from underneath in the winter.
