Carved Stone Lamp Niche From Dungarpur - 18thC
These Indian lamp niches are hand carved from the local Dungarpur greenstone, they were normally used beside doorways with oil lamps or candles. These niches date to the 18th century and are from Dungarpur in Southern Rajasthan. Even without candles they look very decorative on a wall or to light a garden pathway at night. They can either be hung or embedded into a wall.
