This beautifully carved rosewood seed drill has been converted into a truly unique candle stand. Dating from the 19th century it has a wonderful rich patina as old rosewood often does.


Like many things in India, every day pieces were crucial for day to day life and often were embellished and beautifully carved by Marathi craftsmen.  Carved on this piece, you can see Nandi bulls, the steed of Lord Shiva. Seed drills were made for the practical purpose of spreading seeds. Now they are no longer needed for day to day farming seed drills like this have been converted to a beautiful candlestand. An iron candle spike has been added to make a perfect candle stand.
