This beautiful double sided stone jali panel from Rajasthan, India dates to the 19th century. Many of these panels were carved only on the external face but this one has carving on both sides. These delicately carved stone Jali windows were used in beautiful stone havelis in Rajasthan - these were stylish homes of the more wealthy classes. The fretwork enabled privacy whilst allowing a cooling breeze to enter the building.
