Brass Bound Indian Military Chest -19th Century
This antique brass bound Anglo-Indian military chest dates to the 19th century and is the perfect size for a coffee table.
It is constructed from beautifully patinated Burmese teak wood and has original brass fittings and handles. The interior consists of one large space with a fitted candle box. A strong chain prevents the lid from falling open.
Military chests were used by officers of the British Indian Army to carry their kit and personal possessions whilst on tour, they were made to order and had to withstand a lot of punishment in transit.
