Large Blue & White Porcelain Trumpet Mouth Vase

Large Blue & White Porcelain Trumpet Mouth Vase

This grand and striking Chinese porcelain trumpet mouth bottle vase is decorated in blue & white glaze with a trailing chrysanthemum design. A reproduction of a traditional Qianglong period (1711-1799) design. The chrysanthemum flower is a symbol of longevity and long life. Chinese people even drank chrysanthemum wine on the ninth day of each lunar month for its life giving properties.

Porcelain is steeped in centuries of Chinese culture and history. Even though pottery developed in China 15,000 years ago, most experts believe that true porcelain -which also originated in China - didn't emerge in the region until the Han Dynasty -202 BC to 220 AD. Blue and white porcelain is glazed using a transparent porcelain glaze dating back to the Tang Dynasty - 618 - 907.

This beautiful vase is hand made on the potters wheel in the traditional way. It is then painted by hand before firing. Porcelain is steeped in centuries of Chinese culture and history.

Similar style vases to this one have sold at renowned auctions such as Sotheby's & Dreweatts for sometimes hundreds of thousands of pounds.
