Carved Bleached Doors From Bikaner - 19th Century

Carved Bleached Doors From Bikaner - 19th Century

These beautifully carved antique Indian doors from Bikaner would once have been covered in extravagant painting and after many years in the Thar desert have been sun-bleached. The top corners of this door have beautiful detailing with intricately carved peacocks. Doors like this are perfect for a wall mounting and we've fitted it with strong hangers.

Bikaner in Rajasthan has become world famous for its beautifully carved architecture, craftwork, and artwork. These doors are constructed from roheda wood bound with iron. Roheda is similar to teak wood and is used almost exclusively in Northern Rajasthan.
