This Tianjin sideboard comes from the port city of Tianjin. The simple design originated during the Ming dynasty and is likely to have been made some time in the first half of the 19th century.
This black lacquer cabinet was used for storage & also as an altar cabinet for family ancestor worship.
This piece has original brass and hardware. Our pieces are mostly 19th century & early 20th century
They were usually made from elm, oak or catalpa and occasionally in camphor wood.
