Peacock Window Shutter From Udaipur - 18thC

Peacock Window Shutter From Udaipur - 18thC

This fabulous carved Indian window shutter is from Udaipur in Rajasthan and dates to the 18th century. This classic design is from the old kingdom of Mewar in South Rajasthan. Mewar was one of four Rajput schools of painting. Mewar design has a strong Mughal influence.

It would make a stunning piece of wall art. The background still has its original vermillion & cinnabar paint and the panels are inset with mica which would have sparkled in the candlelight.

This particular window is one of a pair. The other can be found HERE.
