Brass Bound Sheesham Military Chest From India - 19thC
These Anglo-Indian Military chests were originally used by officers of the British Indian Army to carry their kit and personal possessions whilst on tour.
As they had to withstand a lot of punishment in transit, they were exceptionally well made.
This particular Indian chest is particularly unusual being made from Sheesham wood as opposed to teak. The style indicates it is from Rajasthan.
