Hand-carved in the desert city of Jaisalmer during the 19th century, this sandstone panel captures the luminous warmth of the region’s celebrated golden stone. Above this radiant medallion, a pair of stylised peacocks stand in graceful balance, their forms anchored below a small mihrab arch topped with a delicate trishul-point finial. Such elements were common in architectural panels across western Rajasthan, where artisans worked golden Jaisalmer stone into devotional, protective and auspicious imagery.
