This impressive antique Chinese display cabinet originated from the port city of Tianjin & surrounding areas in Northern China and features classic lattice doors with glass panels. This simple design originated in the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). This piece dates to the Qing dynasty
This cabinet would be perfectly suited for storing books and would have been made for a scholar. Originally it was lacquered in a burgundy lacquer (still visible on the sides). The front is finished with a clear lacquer and French polished to show off the beautiful wood grain. Inside, it offers a spacious storage area with two shelves and eight smaller drawers for added storage. The bottom compartment can be easily accessed through a large square removable hatch. Both the top and bottom sections can come apart, making it easier to move. Its large yet elegant design makes it a perfect choice for a larger room or hallway.
