These antique Indian lamp niches are intricately carved from green soapstone found almost exclusively in Dungarpur in Rajasthan. They were usually used beside doorways with oil lamps and candles.
The mihrab arch motif is seen across India and the Near East and is a clear influence of the sustained occupation of India by the Mughals between 1526 and 1761.
Suitable for indoor & outdoor use.
